As the NFL season starts gaining momentum, we wanted to bring out a fitting piece of our Fairbanks Morse history.
In November of 1919, the Beloit Fairies invited the undefeated Green Bay Packers to play in Beloit, WI for the Packers’ last game of the season. Pulling ahead in the fourth quarter, the Beloit Fairies eked out a 6 – 0 victory, forcing the Green Bay Packers, who came to Beloit with a 10 – 0 record, to leave with a 10 – 1 record. The Green Bay Packers allowed only one other team, besides the Beloit Fairies, to score against them that year! In 12 games, Green Bay scored over 550 points and gave up a mere 12 points throughout the entire season.
Receiving their name from their sponsor, Fairbanks Morse, the Beloit Fairies football team was joined by a baseball, basketball, and horseshoes team. All teams proudly sponsored by Fairbanks Morse and all teams were top competitors for some of the best company teams in the Midwest.
We are proud of our history and the involvement that Fairbanks Morse has in Beloit! We plan to continue our tradition of teamwork and community involvement!
